Echoes

This project, currently in progress, follows a reflective journey inspired by photographs of Buddhist Chinese caves taken during a trip in 2009. Through the framework of the Yijing, the Chinese Book of Changes, this experience opened a window into Buddhist cave art and its intricate symbolism. The energetic principles within the Yijing find echoes in these statues and spaces, creating subtle connections between ancient traditions and personal discovery.

Grounded in an anthropological perspective, the project examines how personal experiences, revisited through images and memories, can link to broader cultural narratives. It explores how practices tied to health and well-being transform individual stories into collective insights, fostering a deeper understanding of shared knowledge.

The journey also delves into traditional Chinese energetics and Qigong, incorporating these philosophies into a visual narrative that weaves together art, philosophy, and cultural heritage. By creating a space for thoughtful reflection, the project seeks to connect diverse approaches to understanding relationships and healing.
